The historic old town of Salobreña, in the province of Granada, stands proudly against a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range on a craggy outcrop above the Mediterranean Sea and the Costa Tropical de Granada. Typically Spanish, Salobreña’s narrow streets wind up past the whitewashed houses of the old town to the 11th Century Moorish castle which dominates the town. Beneath Salobreña’s castle, alongside the long wide beach, sit modern apartments and villa complexes, and in the hills behind the town are a few small urbanisations of luxurious villas.

In Salobreña you will find properties for sale to suit all tastes and budgets, from traditional Spanish town houses with sunny roof terraces and views of the sea and mountains to large villas, set in their own gardens, with private swimming pools.

Salobreña has a good selection of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants, along with a twice weekly street market. The town also has a public indoor swimming pool and there is a golf course in neighbouring Motril, only 5km away. To the west of Salobreña are the popular coastal resorts of Almuñécar and La Herradura, both popular with water-sports enthusiasts. A few minutes drive inland will bring one to the villages of Lobres, Molvízar and Itrabo.

Travelling North, towards Granada, can be found the beautiful mountain villages of Los Guájares, Las Alpujarras and the Lecrín Valley, all offering spectacular scenery coupled with an abundance of flora and fauna. With the city of Granada, home to the historic Alhambra Palace, less than an hour’s drive away, the town Salobreña is perfectly positioned for those wishing to buy or rent a property in Southern Spain. Salobreña is a favoured holiday destination for both the Spanish from Granada, as well as foreign visitors, since it offers excellent beaches and leisure facilities but has not been spoiled by of mass tourism. This means that those who buy property in Salobreña can take advantage of good, year-round rental income should they decide to rent out their property.
